Goal: Defeat COVID-19.
How?
1) Build a social movement for vaccine adoption.
2) Achieve herd immunity.
Army General Gus Perna, top official in the federal effort to distribute the vaccine, said in his interview with 60 Minutes that his biggest concern is that not enough people will make the choice to be vaccinated.
Unfortunately, we are seeing widespread pushback against the vaccine.
VaxProud - The National Vaccination Awareness and Adoption Movement is utilizing “Vaccinated & Proud” Bracelets to promote vaccine adoption. The Bracelets are a nonverbal social cue of vaccination and serve a number of purposes:
Convey a sense of comfort and safety for those around the wearer.
Demonstrate that getting the vaccine is safe.
Spark conversations about the importance of getting vaccinated.
Symbolize that an individual is doing their part to stop the spread.
Build visible social momentum for the choice to be vaccinated.
Now people from all over the country are wearing their bracelets and joining the movement. Businesses and non-profits are participating as corporate partners.
The difference in achieving herd immunity may be the social aspect of vaccinations: as the vaccines become more widely accessible, will enough people choose to get vaccinated in order for us to reach herd immunity?
If we show that we are Vaccinated & Proud, the answer will be yes.
